- Tip: If you are planning to hit the beach during your stay, be mindful of seaweed season! In the Caribbean, seaweed season is generally May to October. The worst time for seaweed in Cancun and much of the Caribbean is during the summer months.

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: An Overview

The newest addition to the Majestic Resorts family, Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres is a sleek, luxury Caribbean resort that is as beautiful as it is fun. Far from the crowds of Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Costa Mujeres is an unspoiled paradise with breath-taking vistas. Positioned around 40 minutes from the Cancun International Airport (CUN) and 30 minutes from downtown Cancun, this resort is a haven of secluded luxury. The property is very modern, with some of the finest restaurants and amenities we have ever experienced in an all-inclusive resort. Overall, this five-star resort is the perfect destination for a family vacation, romantic getaway, or destination wedding.
Guests staying at the Elegance Club will have access to 7 swimming pools and a private beach area, both equipped with Bali Beds. Across the property, you’ll find 12 pools (half of which feature swim-up bars), multiple beaches, a two-story spa, a dozen bars, live nighttime entertainment, free Wi-Fi access, a large gym, and eight restaurants ranging from a buffet to eateries serving up Italian, Japanese, Argentinean cuisine.
Location
One of the most exclusive areas of Mexico, Playa Mujeres is known for its white-sand beaches and calm turquoise waters. Tucked far away from Cancun’s famous party scene, this destination truly enables visitors to unwind. Guests will find a wide range of cultural and entertainment spots: excursions, shopping, water sports, snorkeling, fishing, diving, water parks, architectural sites, and the best golf courses to craft an incredible trip. Only a short ferry ride away, Isla Mujeres is home to the second-largest reef in the world, the Great Mayan Reef. Snorkeling and scuba diving are a MUST during your getaway, with a significant number of cenotes (underwater caves). Travelers interested in history and culture can also enjoy one-day trips to different ancient Mayan cities like Chichen Itza, Tulum, or Coba.
Design
When you arrive at the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, the first thing you’ll notice is the gorgeous resort design. Inspired by the spectacular blue waters of Cancun and its surrounding islands, you’ll find clean lines and calming colors everywhere throughout the property. Overall, this all-inclusive resort is a splendor of aesthetics that blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
Pools
One of the highlights of this resort is the abundance of sparkling swimming pools. Choose from 12 pools throughout the resort, including eight integrated jacuzzi’s, nine climatized pools, one zero-entry pool, and one kid’s pool. Additionally, there is plenty of seating around the pool area, including loungers, chairs, and beds that maximize relaxation and comfort. Staff quickly attend to your every need, supplying towels and tequila for a day of perfect poolside relaxation.
Rooms
Of course, an impressive Cancun vacation starts with your room. Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres’ 570 suites are divided into two room sections, Family or Elegance Club, and six room categories, including swim-up and plunge pool accommodations. Guests at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres can expect to be welcomed by a spacious and comfortable room that comes complete with all the amenities needed for a relaxing and unforgettable vacation.
Suites are gorgeously appointed with contemporary design in soft shades of gray and blue, paired with natural wood tones. Some suites offer views of the garden or resort, while others provide a spectacular view of the beach and ocean. All suites have a balcony or terrace and feature a king-size bed or two double beds and comfortable sofa beds for children. Elegance club members are also treated to a complimentary bottle of premium alcohol to enjoy in the comfort of their suite, as well as free 24/7 room service.
Our Room
I stayed in room 2120 (A Elegance Club One Bedroom Suite with Outdoor Jacuzzi), which has one of the best views in the resort. This suite boasted a massive bathroom with a beautiful tub and a rainfall shower. Furthermore, a double vanity sink offered plenty of counter space for two people and a second half-bathroom for maximum convenience. The king-sized bed was a comfortable medium firm. Additionally, this suite featured a full-sized sofa bed in the main room. Plenty of storage space and drawers, a flat-screen TV, and a well-stocked mini-fridge make for a perfect suite stay. Finally, this luxurious suite has a large balcony with a lounge bed, table and chairs, and a private Jacuzzi.
Family Section
- Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi): These suites feature either a view of the garden or pool area and are a popular option located on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor.
- Majestic Junior Suite (Swim Up): These suites are located on the ground floor, directly accessing the pool.
- One-Bedroom Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi): These Suites feature an outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed and are located on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor.
- Swim Up Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi): These spacious suites are located on the ground floor with an outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed.
- Sky View Suite (Rooftop with Outdoor Jacuzzi): These rooms are on the 5th floor and provide stunning views of the Caribbean skies. The main room and a large rooftop terrace with a double outdoor jacuzzi.
- Suite Ocean Front (Outdoor Jacuzzi): These ocean-front rooms are on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor.
Elegance Club (Adults 18+ only)
- Elegance Club Jr. Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi): These rooms are located on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor with a view of either the pool or garden area.
- Elegance Club Majestic Jr. Suite (Swim Up): These suites are located on the ground floor with direct access to the pool.
- Elegance Club One Bedroom Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi): These rooms give an extra touch of privacy. Doors separate the bedroom and living room.
- Elegance Club Swim Up Suite (Outdoor Jacuzzi 18+): These spacious suites feature a lounge bed and outdoor jacuzzi and are located on the ground floor.
- Elegance Club Plunge Pool Suite: These rooms are on the 5th floor. There is a main room and a rooftop terrace with a plunge pool.
- Elegance Club Jr. Suite Ocean Front (Outdoor Jacuzzi 18+): These rooms are the perfect choice for unforgettable views across the ocean and are located on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor.
Room tip: If you are looking for a quieter stay, we recommend staying in building one or two to maximize distance from activities and music.
Food
Dine on the finest international cuisine, with gourmet dishes and culinary specialties. Wake up each morning to an assortment of breakfast fare that will help kick-start your day. Flavors Buffet is unlike any breakfast buffet we’ve seen at an all-inclusive resort. From a build-your-own smoothie bar, fresh-pressed juices, made-for-you omelets and crepes, as well other extensive breakfast offerings. Unlimited visits are allowed to all restaurants, with reservations required only for Bistro and Kabuki, which your butler can make.
Head to Mar House at the beachfront, offering beautiful views of the sea. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch buffet, and Snacks, in addition to a surf & turf casual restaurant for dinner. Pop by Kabuki for Japanese and Teppanyaki, or Bistro for a selection of gourmet specialties. Additionally, there is Il Botaccio for Italian fare, Don Jaume – the Argentinean-style steakhouse, or El Mariachi Loco for Mexican cuisine and a tequileri. We found the food options to be extensive and well crafted. The only food offering we felt fell short for us was the teppanyaki. While the show and service were incredible, the menu was predetermined. So, each guest received three small entrees instead of one of their choosing.
For Elegance Club members, enjoy fine Italian specialties, imported meats, snacks, pastries, and drinks at any time of the day with Majestic’s 24/7 service. 24/7 service.
Bars
There are 12 bars throughout Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, so you’ll never go thirsty. All drinks are a part of the all-inclusive resort package. The lobby bar is located at the property entrance and features a circular bar in the middle with a variety of seating options surrounding it. The piano bar serves coffee and tea as well as cocktails and drinks accompanied by live piano music each evening.
Spa
Immerse yourself in the idyllic sanctuary of the Majestic Spa, where a mix of body and health treatments are available. This two-story spa includes a hydrotherapy section, a massage area, and a beauty parlor. A variety of options make the Majestic Spa the perfect place to unwind. Guests will also enjoy access to a health center and modern fitness facility with a wide variety of cardio and weight machines, as well as a separate room for Pilates or spinning.
We experienced the hydrotherapy package during our stay and were highly impressed. The package is $35 for one guest or $50 for a couple and includes one hour of access to the hydrotherapy area with a Sauna, Cenote, and a huge Jacuzzi. During our 10 am appointment, only two other guests entered the hydrotherapy area. We think the hydrotherapy area at the Majestic Spa is this resort’s best-kept secret!
Service
From the second you arrive, you’ll be treated with the high level of service Majestic Elegance prides itself on. For those concerned with safety in Cancun, Majestic employs the use of a staffed gate and check-in before entry to the resort. Elegance club members are treated to a private and personalized check-in conducted in a secluded area on the upper floor. From there, guests meet their butler, who then escorts them to their room.
Everyone from the front desk staff to the bartenders, housekeeping, and waitstaff, were always smiling and happy to help! They were so helpful and friendly at all times. The resort staff exceeded our expectations in every way possible, and we would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious, stress-free getaway.

We explored every aspect of this resort during our five-day stay at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres in November 2021. With a wide variety of first-class amenities and an excellent staff, we think this hotel is perfect for a relaxing beach getaway or romantic retreat. With so many resort options to choose from in Cancun, it can be overwhelming deciding where to stay. If you are looking for an all-inclusive luxury resort in Mexico, this is the place to go.

While every all-inclusive resort is slightly different, generally, there are certain times when tips are expected by hotel staff. Tips are standard when ordering drinks, eating at restaurants, and receiving room service.
Since you will not have a bill at most dining establishments, you won’t have the ability to provide a tip based on a percentage of your bill. Generally, you will have to pick a specific amount to tip. We recommend establishing that amount on the type of restaurant.
A hot topic of debate is whether to tip in Pesos or US currency. You’ll encounter a wide variety of opinions on this topic, but we personally tip in USD. When staying at an all-inclusive resort, we recommend bringing a fair amount of 1 and 5 dollar bills to tip staff.
A complimentary insurance policy covers guests at Majestic Resorts during their stay with the company Europ Assistance. Their full policy can be accessed on their website. COVID-19 antigen testing is available for free for guests staying at Majestic Resorts for three nights or more. Test results are available approximately 8 hours later via email.
